Mints Design featured on Real Weddings

We were delighted to see Esther & Abe’s wedding featured on Real Weddings!!

We are moving!

I have been sitting in front of my computer all day, trying to figure out a way to break this news, but no matter how hard I try, no words seem to come out right. It’s just really heartbreaking. We have been on Park Street for 5 years and we are lucky to be surrounded by our very friendly neighbors and loyal customers. We love Alameda and we know you guys love us as much – voted us the best florist for several years.

Unfortunately, I am sorry to announce that we are planning to close our retail shop and put 100% of our effort on weddings and events.

Five years ago, Canna, Mei and I knew very little about flower business. Well, I mean our mom was a floral designer for over 25 years, but we were unsure if this is what we were capable of doing or we have the talents to keep it up. But we gave it a try. We worked hard and of course learned from our mistakes. We let our imagination be our mentor and creativity be our fuel to keep Mints Design growing.

This five years is a blast. We help delivered over thousands of arrangements to your special someone in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley, San Francisco, even in San Jose. Some of you guys were willing to pay extra delivery fee just to have our designs and we are absolutely flattered. Some of you ordered your first prom’s corsage from us. You were so nervous the first time, but soon you became a pro and knew exactly what a girl wanted. We are so glad that we were a part of your high school memories.

We also have done hundreds of weddings. Some of our brides are now mothers or mom-to-be. We are lucky to be featured on Sunset, Real Simple, The Knot Northern California, Style Unveiled, and many more. We are the featured vendor on bbrooks, weddingbee as well as Style Me Pretty. We were even contacted by one of the major publishers to do interview for their business class materials.

I think we have accomplished quite a bit in five years. But what makes us most proud of wasn’t being featured on magazines. We are most proud of creating this unique store for Alameda — our lovely community. It’s so cute that some kids regularly come by to say hi to our fishes. Though our shop is so tiny, it’s a joy to see many of you strolling back and forth, enjoying the music and decor. Some says we should be in Berkeley or San Francisco, but we always know we want to be in Alameda because it is our hometown.

It’s really sad that we need to close our storefront. It always isn’t easy to balance work and family, but I promise you we will continue to update this blog, keep you posted, and I am sure our design work will continue to wow you as much as before.

Please stay tune for our moving party!!

Real Weddings: Tina & Scott

There weren’t enough good things to say about Tina & Scott’s wedding- Fun & Sophisticated, all at the same time! The celebration began at Mark Hopkins, one of the finest historical hotels in San Francisco. The theme was “Book of Love”, and all of their stationary had a BOOK theme: wedding programs, “house rules” place cards and sign-in bookmarks. The Mcee also sang the “Book of love” when Tina walked down the aisle. The red dahlias arrangements, the tea light candles, and the red rose petals around the apothecary jars, they truly made the room so warm and romantic. Tina & Scott, thank you for sharing your special day with us!! It was a pleasure being there.

p.s. Darcy, thank you for the amazing pictures!!

Real Weddings: Kimberly & James

This wedding was full of sweet, delicate touches, and I was particularly smitten with the color palette… purple + fuchsia + green. It was just gorgeous. The whole event took place at a luxurious winery estate, Casa Real , and it was just perfect for this lovely affair. The wedding was overflowing with joy, and Kimberly & James were a dream to work with. We were thrilled to be part of this special day. Thank You for including us!!

Happy Holidays!!
